Tidally locked to its parent star, Tumie, Roseman’s downport is sited on and within a high, lone mountain (Mt Starbright) near the substellar point (the part of the planet closest to the star).  At the base of the mountain are the usual runways and landing fields.  However, some spacecraft that would usually dock with a Highport can opt to dock at one of the docking gantries that ring the mountain peak – something viable for unstreamlined ships usually constrained to highport operations given the lack of atmosphere and low gravity.

Roseman’s downport is unusually laid-out, with the docking structures that ring the mountain top and travel pod services within to the concourse and other features buried deep inside the mountain itself. 

Inside the mountain at its foot, a maglev station, is one end of an antistellar-bound train, on which one can enjoy the rocky terrain of Roseman’s slowly darkening surface zooming by the window at what would be supersonic speeds if there were any air outside to carry sound.

All downports tend to have issues with low-levels of radiation from ship’s drives, but Roseman is more irradiated than usual given the docking arrangements and so there are almost no facilities on the surface itself, and even the runway-based docks are dug in.

The downport has its own region code – MSD.
